draining auger

A horizontal auger ocсаsionally used for boring through a bank to form a channel for water. It is also used for cutting an opening for laying lead-pipe or drain-pipe. In each case it is intended to save the labor of opening a trench. It is also used for draining marl-pits or cellars, when the circumstances of the level suit. boil, boy; pout, jowl; cat, çell, chorus, chin, bench; go, gem; thin, this; Botany : 1.
