snow grouse (snogrous)

A ptarmigan; any bird of the genus Lagopus, nearly all of which turn white in winter. Also snow - partridge. See cuts under grouse and ptarmigan. Ice formed by the freezing of slush: such ice is opaque and white, owin owing to the incompletene of the melting of the snow: opposed to black ice .
