Rhapsody

(rap'so-de.) [Gr. rhapsodia, literally, a song in patches.) (Lit.) Anciently, a portion of an epic poem suitable for recitation at one time. Among the moderns, the term denotes a collection of parts or pa ages forming in the whole a composition, but one ofa confused, rambling, incoherent character. [s. 766]
