palapterygidæ

pl. [Mod. Lat. palap teryx, gen it. palapteryg (is); Lat. fem. pl. adj. suff. ide.] Palæont .: A family of Struthious Birds, founded by Dr. Haast, and co-extensive with Prof. Owen's Dinornithidae, which consists of his single genus Dinornis (q. v.). Dr. Haast divides these sub-fo il remains into three families: Dinornithidæ, including Dinornis, with five, and Meiornis, with seven species; Palapterygidæ, including Pal apteryx and Eur apteryx, each with two species; and Epyor nithide, one genus, Æpyornis (q.v.). with three species.
