ANTHONY, chemist; born at Naumburg, He e-Ca el, Germany, June 13, 1827; graduate of University of Göttingen. Has resided since 1857 in the U. S. and has been for many years profe or of Chemistry in the Ma achusetts Agricultural College, at Amherst; appointed chemist to the State Board of Agriculture (1873), and later elected director of the Ma achusetts State Agricultural Experiment Station, at Amherst, Ma . Has published valuable papers upon chemical subjects. 1.
