FLEXURE

The bending or incurvation of a line or surface. Point of contrary flexure is a term used in analytical geometry to denote that point of a curve at which the curvature pa es from convex to concave, or vice vers a, with respect of the axis. At this point the radius of curvature is infinite. At the points of the curve immediately preceding and following, the centre of curvature lies on opposite sides of the curve. [s. 474]
