[Gr. leukoma =whitene , and suff. in or -ine. A nitrogenous alkaloid developed by the vital functions or metabolic activity of living organisms, as distinguished from a ptomaine, an alkaloid developed in dead bodies. leu-co-măn-gan-ite, s.
