Clog-almanacks

The Anglo-Saxons calculated by the phases of the moon, set down on square pieces of wood, a foot or two long. These clogs are still common in Staff ords hire. (Cf. Plott’s History of Staff ords hire; Gough’s Camden’s Britannia, ii. 379.)
