A fast-sailing steamer chartered by government for the conveyance of mails. mail-train, s. A fast train by which the mails are conveyed. *mail (3), s . [A.S. mál=a portion, a share; Icel. mál ; Dan. maal .] An old Scotch term for rent. (1) Gra - mail : Rent paid for cattle sent to graze on the pastures of another. (2) Black - mail : [BLACKMAIL.] (3) Mails and duties: The rents of an estate, whether in money or grain.
