fund, n. a sum of money on which some enterprise is founded or expense supported: a supply or source of money: a store laid up: supply: ( pl. ) permanent debts due by a government and paying interest.— v.t. to form a debt into a stock charged with interest: to place money in a fund.— adj. Fund′able , capable of being converted into a fund or into bonds.— p.adj. Fund′ed , invested in public funds: existing in the form of bonds.— n.
