rhynchobatus

[Pref. rhyncho-, and Greek bat is =the prickly roach.] Ichthy .: A genus of Rhinobatidæ (q. v.); dorsals without spine, the first opposite to the ventrals; caudal with lower lobe well developed; teeth obtuse, granular, the dental surfaces of the jaws undulated. There are two species, Rhynchobatus ancylo stomus and R. djeddensis , both about eight feet long, common on the coasts of the Indian Ocean.
