[s. 716] : Name applied by the BZM to a group of a score or more villages in Bengal, India, lying south of Calcutta, in the occupied by the BM8 between Port Canning (Mutlah) and Diamond Harbor, and district Sontliern Baptist Stuck, MattlieTT 699 including the 24 Pargannas. Lakikantopvir is the village where the 2 women mi ionaries of the BZM reside (1903), giving regular religious instruction in 11 other villages. They have 31 native workers and 9 day schools under their Mrs. Mary Chrystie Spauld ing, his wife, rendered equally conspicuous services to the mi ion in another line. The care of the girls’ boarding school was her special duty for almost forty years. Her sympathetic services to natives and care. to mi ionaries alike, when there was suffering to be alleviated or sorrow to be borne, gave her the affectionate title of “Mother Spauld ing.” She died at Batt i cotta one year after her husband finished his labors. 717
