and short armed floors. Is the term given to the floor-timbers of a ve el, which are so placed, that they show alternately long and short arms on the same (either) side of the keel. Example: Say there are 60 floors, having each a length of 15 feet; the 1st would be so placed, that about 1/srd (5 feet) of its length would be on the port side of the keel, and J;8rds (10 feet) on the starboard side, — the 2nd floor would have 2/8rd* of its length on the port side, and ‘/3rd on starboard; the arms of the 1st, 3rd, 5lh, etc.; and the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc., being alike.
