Electrode

(e-lektrod.) [FromGr. odos, a way.] (Elect.) A term introduced by Faraday to designate a surface at which the electric current either enters or leaves abo dy under electrolytic decomposition. He calls that the anode at which the current enters, and that the kath ode at which the current leaves the electrolyte. [s. 322]
