Uppermost English Silurian beds, corresponding to the American Lower Helderberg. In these strata occur the oldest vertebrate fo ils known in the Old World, except a single specimen reported by Lindström from the Wenlock or Niagara rocks of the island of Gothland. See SILURIAN.
