Obsolete plural of cherub. I. cherup (cher'up), v.; pret. and pp. cheruped or cherupped, ppr. cheruping or cherup ping. [A form of chirrup for chirp1. Cf. cheer up2.] in trans. To chirp or chirrup: as, “ cherup ping birds," Drayton. II. trans. To excite or urge on by chirruping. [Rare.] He cherups brisk his ear-erecting steed. Cowper , Task, iii. 9.
