persulphocyanIc

[Pref. per-, and Eng. sulphocyanic.) Derived from or containing sulphocyanic acid. persulphocyanic-acid, s. Chem.: C2H2N2S3=Cy2H2S3. An acid discovered by Wöhler in 1821, and prepared by mixing a saturated aqueous solution of pota ium sulphocyanate with concentrated hydrochloric acid. It is a yellow crystalline powder, inodorous, tastele , insoluble in cold, slightly soluble in boiling water, very soluble in alcohol and ether. The persulphocyanates are very unstable, being gradually changed into the sulphocyanates.
