BEARD

Arabic لحية liḥyah or ذقن ẕaqan . The beard is regarded by Muslims as the badge of the dignity of manhood. The Prophet is related to have said, “Do the opposite of the polytheists and let your beard grow long.” ( Mishkāt , xx. iv.) And the growing of a beard is said to be Fit̤rah , or one of those customs which have been observed by every Prophet. [ FITRAH .]
