A screw-pre in which the power is derived from a weighted arm, swinging in a horizontal plane, as in embo ing and die pre es. Pre es of this kind are used for making buttons, washers, flat links for chains, cutting and gumming brown above, with a few dark spots on the top on its head; below it is dull white, the throat and breast streaked with brown; length about six inches. It makes a beautiful nest in various situations, some of them of odd character, and lays four or five eggs, which are bluish-white spotted with red.
