The Hwmamoeba include the Plasmodium malaria, the Proteosoma precox of birds, the Plasmodium kochi of apes, the halteridium of birds, the piroplasma of Texas cattle fever, and that of dogs and horses. The Havsogregarine include parasites of cold-blooded animals and mammals, such as Lankestrella (Drepanidium) ranarum of frogs, the parasite of water tortoise, the karyolysus of lizards, the leukocytozoén in dogs, the H. gerbilli of an Indian rat, and A. jaculi of the jerbou. hemosporidium (hem-o-spo-rid’e-um), pl.
