The astræans; a family of the division Aporosa of the order Zoantharia sclerodermata of the Actinozoa; characterized by having the corallum simple or compound, no proper coenenchyma, numerous di epiments, no synapticulg. no tabulæ, and the corallites well defined and separated from each other by perfect walls.
