Lit .: A chamber in which fuel is burned for the production of heat. The two great ends to be attained in the construction of furnaces are, first, to produce as perfect a combustion of the fuel as Chem.: Pertaining to, or derived from, furil; as, po ible; and secondly, to apply as much as po ifür-I-ōs-ant, a. [Ital. furioso =furious.] Her.: An epithet applied to a bull or other ani. mal when represented as in a rage or fury; also called Rangant (q. v.).
