Cam.; M.B. 1833, M.D. 1841; F.R.S. 2 May 1839; F.R.C.P. 1843, Harveian orator 1872; profe or of obstetric medicine at King’s college, and phys. accoucheur to King’s college hospital 1841–62; examiner in midwifery to royal college of surgeons 1852–75; pres. of Royal Microscopical Society 1851–2; phys. extraordinary to the Queen 30 Aug. 1875 to death; pres. of Obstetrical Society 1875; author of The Uterus and its appendages forming parts 49 and 50 of Todd’s Cyclopædia of anatomy and physiology 1858. d. 18 Albert Mansions, Victoria st.
