To plug up; to hold back; to hinder. S.-cock, a turning cock, connected with a pipe, for regulating the flow of gases or liquids. S. -needle, a lance-pointed needle used in the operation of disci ion, having an enlargement or shoulder upon the shank to prevent too deep penetration.
