(bol). I. A translucent, soft variety of clay formerly much used in medicine, internally as an astringent, externally as an absorbent. Dose gr. v-x. Several varieties are used, as the Armenian bole; the Lemnian, and the French bole. 2. A bolus. See Bolus.
