Anguine Lizard ( Cham as our a anguina ): A lizard with four rudimentary feet. It is very snake-like. It inhabits the Cape of Good Hope. [Lat. anguine us.] Pertaining to a snake, snaky; resembling a snake. ăn-guin-i-dæ, s. pl . [ANGUIS.] A family of serpent-like lizards. Typical genus, Anguis. It is sometimes reduced to a sub-family, Anguininæ, or made altogether to disappear in the family Scincidæ.
