city, port of entry, and capital of St. Louis county, Minn., at the W. end of Lake Superior, and mn several trunk line railroads; 155 miles N. BH. of St. Paul. It is an important commercial and manufacturing city, having an excellent harbor, steamer communication with all yreat Lake ports, and extensive shipments of lumber and iron ore. Pop. (1910) 78,466.
