Canadian Presbyterian; b. at Gait, Ontario, Can., Feb. 10, 1849; graduated at the University of Toronto, B.A. 1869, M.A. 1871, and at Knox College, Toronto, 1873; was pastor of St. Joseph-street Presbyterian Church, Montreal, 1873-82; lecturer on Hebrew and Greek exegesis in the Presbyterian College, Montreal, 1874-82; since 1882 has been profe or there of the same. Since 1873 he has been member of the General A embly's board of French evangelization; is convener of General A embly's committee on religious instruction in the public schools of the Province of Quebec, and of the General A embly's committee on co-operation with other Protestant churches in sparsely settled districts.
