[Ion. Gr. paraplegia, for para plex i a a paralytic stroke, hemiplegia (q. v.).] Pathol.: Palsy of the lower part and both sides of the body, usually from various diseases of the spinal cord. The bladder and rectum are often powerle , limbs numb, urine ammoniacal; form i cation (q.v.) is common in the toes. The patient straddles and throws the feet obliquely outward and forward. păr-a-pō-di-ŭm ( pl . păr-a-po-di-a), s .
