Jujube-tree. Calyx tubular; petals five; scales opposite the stamens; drupe with a one or a two-célled nut. Ten ‘species: eight prickly; two unarmed. Natives of the south of urope, East Indies, or Carolina. The following are the chief. 1. Z. paliurus. Christ’s thorn. Prickles double, the lower ones reflected; flowers three-styled; drupe coriaceous, with a winged ‘margin. Fruit dry, depre ed.
