Manchu Invasion of China

The Manchu Tartars first invaded China in 10th cent., when they established the Leaou dynasty in n. China. Two centuries later they made a second inroad, and established the Kiu dynasty, which was banished from China by Jenghiz Khan. They again invaded China 1616, took the province of Lean-tung 1619. In 1620 the Manchu sovereign, Teeu-wing, declared himself independent. In 1642 Peking was taken by rebels; the last emperor of the Ming dynasty committed suicide, and the Manchus were invited to drive out the rebels. They did so, but refused to leave the empire, and established the Ta-tsing dynasty, which has continued to the present time.
