DEODORIZER

(Lat. de, away from; odor, smell), a substance used for destroying harmful smells, chiefly those which arise from decomposing matter. Charcoal and quicklime are very powerful D’s. Disinfectants may be D's. if they destroy smells, as, for instance, zinc chloride, so also may antiseptics, though, if they are only germ destroyers where no smell arises, they cannot, strictly speaking, be placed under this heading.
