n. Masd'u6r. A.-S., mceddere. 1. The genus Rubia, especially the Rubia tinctornm. 2. Dyer's m., the root of the Rubia tinctorum, formerly official in the U. S. Ph. as Rubia (q. v.). [B, 5, 19, 275 (a, 35).] Alcoholic extract of m. See Extractum tinct or ice alcohol i cum. Alkaline decoction of in. Lat., decoctum rubice compos i tum. Fr., decoction de garance alcaline. A preparation made by boiling 3 drachms each of m.-root and rhubarb-root and 2 of pota ium carbonate 1 hour in SJ Ibs. of water, straining, and adding 2 oz. of syrup of ginger.
