Evelyn tells of pa ing through the tunnel, and mentions the fruitfulne of Sandys writes: “This {Diary, Feb. 7, 1645.) the mountain. mountain doth stretch from Northeast to Southwest in form of a prostrated Pyramis, and although flat on the top, on each side steeply declining. Southeastward bordering with the Sea, and Northwestward with the Country. I will not now speak of the delicate Wine which it yieldeth, neat and fragrant, of a more trated pleasing gust and far le heavy than those of Vesuvium; of those Orchards both great nor and many, replenished with all sorts of almost to be named Fruit-trees, especially with Oranges and Lemons, which at once do delight three senses; nor how is (though stony) to the Tiller.” (P. 205.)
