PASSION

(Lat. patior, /a? -.) The sufferings of our Lord, which he is described as having endured between the Last Supper and the moment of his death. Pa ion-week is that in the course of which these sufferings took place; namely, that immediately preceding Easter. It was variously called Hebdomad a lucttwsa, inofficiosa, poenosa, indulgent ice, nigra, sancta, ultima. [s. 912]
