apposite (apozit)

In rhet., the addition of a parallel word or phrase by way of explanation or illustration of another. N. E. D. - Growth by apposition, in bot., growth in thickne by the repeated formation of lam inæ, as of cellulose in the thickening of cell-walls and of starch in the increase of starch-granules.
