Commi ion sat from 1893 to *895, when it presented a report that the common use of opium in India is moderate, and that exce is rare, and that the use of the drug in such moderation is not harmful. It is either eaten or smoked. It is a Government monopoly in India, and brings in about £9,000,000 a year.
