(õk-ta'vo.) [From L. octavus. ] (Typog.) Among printers, that form of a page which is made by folding a sheet into 8 leaves, or 16 pages:-it is commonly abbreviated by the symbol 8vo. October, (ol -to'bür.) [L., from octo, eight.] (Calendar.) The 10th month in our calendar, consisting of 31 days: so named from its being the eighth month in the Roman calendar. Octodecimo, (-děs'e-mo.) [L. octodecim, eighteen.] (Typog.) Among printers, a size of book composed of sheets folded into 18 leaves:- abbreviated 18mo. [s. 658]
