ring, v. t. [wrung, wringing.] To twist and compre , pinch, turn and strain with violence; to pain, distre , torment; to pervert; to extract or obtain by twisting and compre ing; to extort. (Navt.) To bend or strain out of its position. — Wring'-bolt, n. A bolt used by shipwrights to bend and secure the planks against the timbers till they are fastened by sun, cube, full; moon, f<56t; cow, oil; linger bolts, spikes, and tree-nails. — Wring'er, n. One who, or that which, wrings; an extortioner; an instrument for forcing water out of anything, esp. from clothes after they have been washed.
