An open insult, as distinguished from a secret or insidious attack by word or deed; an abuse; a provocation; outrage. Affrontee', a . [Lat. af for ad , to, and frons , face; Fr. affronté .] ( Her .) A term applied to animals facing each other on an escutcheon. The French word affronté is also often used in Eng. Heraldry. Affront'er, n. One who af fronts.
