Law : The obtaining the right or title to something by a verdict and judgment of the court from an opposing party in a suit; as, the recovery of damages for libel, the recovery of lands in ejectment. Common, collusive , or feigned recovery : Old Eng . Law : A fictitious real action carried on to judgment and founded on the supposition of an adverse claim, a proceeding formerly resorted to by tenants in tail for the purpose of barring their entails, and all remainders and reversions consequent thereon, and making a conveyance in fee simple of the lands held in tail. It was abolished in 1833.
