tween Gen. Greene (kah-měl'yah.) and Lord (Bot.) Rawdon. A gen. Pop. of evergreen 1,007. slırubs, O. Ternstromiaceæ, inhabiting China and Japan, and so nearly related to the teas (Thea) as to be with difficulty distinguished from them. The species C. japonica is among the most beautiful plants of the vegetable kingdom. It is from this that the multitudes of double varieties, now common ornaments of greenhouses in the spring, have been obtained, partly by seeds and partly by the perpetuation of sprouted branches.
