Distringas

( Law.) A writ directed to the sheriff, commanding him to distrain a person of his goods and chattels, to enforce a compliance with what is required of him by law. Distrust', v. a. To doubt or suspect the truth, fidelity, firmne , or sincerity of; not to confide in or rely on; to have no faith in; as, to distrust the profe ions of another. - To suspect not to be real, true, sincere, or firm; to doubt; to mistrust; to discredit; as, to distrust one's own strength of mind. -n.
