Alveolus

(al-věʼo-lūs.) [L. dim. of alveus, a cavity.] (Nat. Hist.) The waxen cell of a honeycomb.-(Anat.) The cavity in the jaw forming a socket for a tooth. (a-li um.) (Bot.) The Madworts, a gen. of plants, O. Bra icaceæ. One species, A. saxatile, is popularly known as gold-dust, from the bright yellow color of its blo oms. [s. 24]
