[Pref. lucio-, and Mod. Lat. trutta a trout.] Ichthy.: A genus of Fishes, family Salmon ide. ( Günther.) lū-çi-ŭm, s . [Lat. lux (gen it. lucis )=light.] A new i lumina ting body present in a certain special oro of a sandy nature, and known as monazited sand. It readily becomes incandescent when exposed to a flame, and is used in solution to render luminous the conical network or "mantle" used in incandescent gaslight lamps.
