This compound, which is isomeric with alanine or lactamic-acid, can be produced from all the ethereal salts of lactic-acid, by the action of ammonia in alcoholic or aqueous solution. It crystallizes in lạ-con-i-cum, s. [Lat.] Cla . Antiq .: Among the ancients, the semicircular end of a bath; a circular stove, for the purpose of heating the sudatories, or sweating-rooms of a bath. The use of the dry bath is said to have been prevalent among the Lacedæmonians.
