[NL. (Du Petit Thou ars, 1804), suggested by its affinity to a genus previously named Mithridate a, occur in the Tertiary formations of Europe and of Australia, closely allied forms, called Monimiopsis, at the very base of that formation in France and in the Fort Union group on the Yellow stone river in Montana.
