[Etym.not ascertained.] A name given by Von Schubersky to his application of the fly-wheel to the locomotive. The fly-wheel in this invention is ponderous, and in running down grades it stores up surplus mechanical power generated by the descent of the locomotive and train, to be in turn imparted to the driving-wheels in ascending a grade, thus aiding the engine in making its ascent.
