PHALANX

(Lat.), n. f. Fal(fa3l)'a2n2x(a3n2x). Gen., -an'gis. Gr., . Middle p. Fr., phalangine. Ger., Mit tel phalange. The p. Fiddle-shaped structures, probably cuticular in nature, united to ea.ch other, forming the lamina reticular is of the cochlea. Between them are intervals through which the hairs of the outer hair-cells pa , and to each of them is attached the phalangeal proce of the cells of Deiters. [L, 142, 332.] Proximal p.
