Volucella (volusela)

[NL. (Geoffroy, 1764), Volucres (vol'ū-krēz), n. pl. [NL., 2. In C. J. Sun devall's cla ification, the second order of birds, agreeing in the main with the Picariæ as commonly understood, but including the parrots and pigeons. It is most nearly a synonym of the old Picæ of Linnæus. [Rare in both senses.] volucrine (vol'ū-krin), a. [L. volucris, a bird, + -ine1.] Pertaining to birds; bird-like.
